In Kentucky, many seniors face food insecurity and social isolation. Ride for Good partners with local nutrition programs to provide essential meals to homebound seniors through Meals on Wheels and congregate meal sites. By donating a vehicle, you help deliver not just meals, but also companionship and safety checks, addressing the immediate needs of our elderly population.
Your generous support allows us to stretch every dollar further, ensuring that those who are most vulnerable receive the nutrition and care they need. Each dollar raised translates into meals that can change a life, making it possible for seniors to maintain their health and independence in their own homes.

↗Real impact, real numbers
Your contribution has a direct impact on the lives of seniors in Kentucky. For every $1,500 donated, we can fund over 200 home-delivered meals through Meals on Wheels, which also includes necessary safety check-ins. Alternatively, your donation can provide more than 400 meals at congregate meal sites, where seniors gather for nutritious meals and social interaction, helping to combat isolation. The more you donate, the more meals we can deliver—$2,500 helps us provide 500+ meals, while $5,000 could supply over 1,000 meals, ensuring our seniors are nourished and cared for.
How we vet recipient partners
To ensure your contributions reach those who need them most, we carefully vet our partner organizations. We prioritize Area Agencies on Aging-contracted providers, which comply with federal and state accountability standards. Our partners are also members of the Meals on Wheels America network and adhere to the nutrition standards set by the Older Americans Act Title III-C. We confirm that there are no waiting lists or only short waiting lists, indicating sufficient funding and capability to meet local needs.
How proceeds flow
After covering towing and processing costs, 70-80% of the gross proceeds from vehicle donations go directly to our partner organizations. From there, a program ratio is applied to ensure funds are allocated effectively to support senior meal programs. This means when you donate your vehicle, a significant portion of your contribution directly supports vital meal services for seniors in Kentucky.
Kentucky recipient landscape
Kentucky faces unique challenges in addressing senior nutrition, with a significant portion of the elderly population living on fixed incomes. Many seniors experience food insecurity and require assistance to maintain a healthy diet. State-level funding for nutrition programs often falls short, making support from local communities even more critical. Ride for Good is dedicated to bridging this gap and ensuring that every senior has access to nutritious meals and vital social interactions.
